100 things to do with a blank wall...number one..

Thinking of you Wendz when I dug these out.
This is an old photo of mine from a couple of years ago - I had plans to cover the entire wall in these.  Dom said that ENOUGH IS ENOUGH...at this rate we will have no beige left...Looking at it now I can see that some fabricos has been changed..note fabricos from previous post crept in at the top.

Realise that this is a bit vieux chapeau now...

I did this while Dom was watching the rugby one afternoon....It is a bit rubbish because when the children whizz past they blow off (not in that way!! And not the children!!!!).  Ha ha
Of course that was all in the original concept - leaves on a tree fluttering in the breeze. I am pleased to report that Margot is delighted!!

At the end of the match Dom said that he was a little surprised....I had forgotten to tell him what I was about to do...Best way don't you think...

Risk of sackage beckons as not getting one with work.

Now get outta here you guys...

Tra la la
Fiddle de dee
Off I go to smother a white wall with colour....hang on that doesn't rhyme....

PS: Crusty been on the blower - desperado to do a 'project' together (aka she grabs the glory and I do the hard slog).  I slammed the dog and bone down and told her in no uncertain terms that I will be in the studio first thing Monday...

Oh you British and your sense of 'umoure

  1. I think I have only watched Kirstie's show once and that was the 1960s makeover last week. I thought it was ok but not exactly inspiring. I didn't see the dipping of baskets but can only imagine the horror... and mess. Loving your tree with embroidery hoop leaves - are the hoops new, made to look old perchance?! Can I come round and have a rummage through your crockery collection? I need a new every day dinner service and I'm sure you've got one spare?! ;)

    1. You are welcome to rummage any time dear! The hoops were second hand (so look a bit grubby I suppose) - I bought them as a job lot and even with postage worked out at less than a pound each. I see that lately the price in charity shops seems to be 3-4 pounds but in the past they could be picked up for 20-30 pence. I have some spare larger ones if you would like them. I did not watch KA last night - watched Masterchef instead!

  2. Oh Jenny I just love your wall idea, that tree cut out looks great! ! I've been acquiring a few rings myself to display found bits of amazing embroidery just simply on the wall... I managed to get to a bootie briefly yesterday and found a lovely piece... fabulous flowers, 2 field mice, a butterfly and a snail... very sweet.

    1. The embroideries sound lovely Cass - that pattern sounds familiar...I will have to have a rummage I think.

  3. Jenny what a coincidence!

Just slammed the phone down to her as I read this post....of course I said the same to her - she wanted my crochet xmas trees to pass off as her own.

Oh the horror and shame of it!

Obviously I was her second choice mortified on both accounts.

  4. Beautiful idea Mrs. Custard, I love a hoop I do, oh and the fabrics are special indeed. We love 1970's Cathy Winkle plates and have some "posh" midwinter ones with black and white surrounds which i really love as they are bigger than the average plate :o) The more my crockery and fabric in the room clash, the happier I am really. Not in a very garish way but a happy eclectic mix that doesn't confuse the eye too much xox Penelope
ps. I find that when hubby is not looking the best way and then we just smile wryly when he eventually notices !

    1. Thank you kindly Penelope - I too am partial to a Winkle and as a result of your comment I have just written a post regarding one of my favourite Winkle plate. I love a clashing pattern me...Dom not so keen...it is the natural way of the world...

  5. Great way to show off your fabrics Jenny, I've got just the wall to do this with, it's my hall wall(see I'm good with words too!), not sure it would look quite the same alongside grubby finger prints and shoe scuffs! Mind you we are decorating next year, so may be.......:) x

    1. Indeed Ada - not sure why children have to lever themselves down the wall in order to traverse the stairs. For many years we just had a grey line down the stairs....
We are always decorating....I look forward to seeing yours Ada

The tree is peeling a bit round the edges I notice so I may have to get the glue stick out today!

  7. Aaah good grief how do you do it? What I mean is, a bit earlier this evening I was sitting at my sewing table (went hastily upstairs when Eastenders started - hate that show and hubby loves it to bits....*shudders*) anyway there I was, leafing through Selina Lake's Homespun Style book and came across something that made me think "Eureka! I can frame some fabric in all my unused embroidery hoops and mix that lot up with some plates!" All pleased with myself I was and then I come down here and in a TV ad break I pick up the laptop and browse blogs and voila!! I see you have done this long ago.

Anyway brilliantissimo. (I've gone Italian again and it's all your fault...and Inspector Montalbano's.) Your hoops are fabuloso. :)

    1. Of course I knew all that wendz and just thought that I would get in first!! How odd though - spooko!! I haven't watched Eastenders since the days of Ange and Den - I am no good on TV quizzes because if a 'soap question' comes up I am stumped (mind you if it was about Sunlight I would be ok....)
Look forward to the finished wall Wendz

  9. What a fabulous idea this is Jenny - the instant wow factor methinks and making use of your fabric stash...you can ring the changes too with newly acquired additions of fabric :)

  10. Hi Jenny,
I too love those sewing hoops, fab idea and beautiful fabrics....
I had a little chuckle at those dipped baskets and I am thinking (only to my self mind you) that Kirsty could do with a little help from some of those very, very talented ladies here in blog land!
I do wonder what she will be up to next week? ooh deary me...
Leaving you with a smile as always...
