Pink pram worth about £2.50

Just a little posting about a little thing!  You may recall that one of my great nieces was coming to stay so I started to make a little vintage dress here out of vintage embroidered fabric - well the dress was far too small so I will embark on Mark 11 at some stage.

I 'found' (in other words in the spare bedroom...along with three wooden toy cots...one or two dolls' houses..and..) an old toy pram dating from the 1960s (?not sure but about then) - my great niece is a perfect size for reaching the handle and toddling around like a little doll herself.  Glad that it is has gone to a good home and will have a few more months/years of being pushed around.

Can you feel Christmas creeping around the corner?

  1. What a sweet little dress, It's a shame it was too small for her. That little doll pram is absolutely adorable!

    1. Thank you kindly Dorothy - it will not be too much of a hardship to make another one so all's well that ends well! The pram is only plastic and not fancy in the slightest but as you say it is purdy!

  3. Hello Jenny:
How could any small child fail to love this wonderful pram. It is so sweet....and pink!!!! Very 1960s colour in our eyes.

Such a pity, we feel, that perambulators have become replaced by buggies the size of small cars these days. How well we remember the Silver Cross perambulators, complete with perfect suspension and chromium plate!!!

    1. I remember pushing my little sister in a Silver Cross - type pram back in 1969. I could barely reach up and grab the handle but push her I did...down the passage only though - not out of the house. :)

    2. Ah yes indeed Jane and Lance - a Silver Cross - the best of the best and huge wheels!

  4. One of those prams was part of my childhood - belonged to one of us girls - am guessing it was handed down to us by friends/family.

Yep christmas is creeping in - actually after this weekend it can burst loudly onto the scene - when its dark & cold its lovely to have some warm & fun to look forward too :)

    1. Indeed Vicki - that is what vintage is all about don't you think. A bit of 'I used to have one of them...if only I could find it...'
You are right to embrace the Christmas getting readiness - it is all part of it

    1. Thank you kindly Cheryl - the joy of this resurgence of 'vintage' aka second hand is that I think it is more likely to be passed down even though it is a bit of cheapo plastic!

  18. Ha, I had that very pram in the early 70s! The photo caught my eye on Bobo Bun's sidebar. I found one a few years ago and made some vintage bedding for it. When i took it to a fair so many people remembered it from their childhood. Now I'm trying to find one for my niece as it's just the right size.

  22. Wow, I used to play with one of those prams at play school, we had two and you had to be quick to get to play with one! That was in the early 70's, so nothings changed…little girls and big girls love tucking baby to sleep in a cosy pram! I bet she has hours of fun with this, what a great Aunty x
